SAF Challenge: Episode 4

The season is over. And… we did it! We survived our first season in de Premier League.

Matches

After last post we still had to play the rest of the matches in this season and try to secure our place in the Premier League for next year. As you can see here, we played 13 matches, won 5, drew 3 and lost 5. We could have won a drew a few of the losses, especially the game against Chelsea. We played on the counter and Chelsea had no answer to our counters. The problem was that we weren’t banging them on target and eventually Chelsea won with 1-0. Also, the last two games of the season are two draws, but the main reason we drew those games was because of the selection. We were already save at that point and secured our position, so I gave some youngsters the possibility to show me what they can do. That resulted in 2 draws, which could have been wins. All in all it was a fun and successful season!

League table and what’s next?

As you can see we finished 9th this season. We ended up with 48 points out of 38 games with 14 wins, 6 draws and 18 losses. Our goal difference ended in the negative (-9), so that is a thing we need to change in the next season. Now this season is over, I am already thinking about next season. Where do we want to be at the end of next season so we are on the right track towards winning the Premier League in our 4th season. We need to get some new players in and try to keep the players we have. The only player already kicking up a fuss is our goalkeeper Mathew Ryan. Manchester United already came in with an offer of 9 million, which I obviously rejected. Directly after rejecting Matthew came up to me and told me he wants to talk with Manchester United. I told him I don’t want him to leave and he stormed out. I hope we can retain him in next season, but if he creating giving problems in the Dynamics, I’ll have to look for a replacement and let him go.
