FM 2019 is coming within 2 months and the beta will be here even faster. But what kind of save are you starting. Below you find different kind of challenges you can try with your save in FM 2019.
Club & Country Challenge
Also known as the San Marino challenge. It’s the hardest and well-known challenge for Football Manager as far as I know! The challenge is to improve the national squad of San Marino (currently in 203rd place in the Fifa World-ranking) using the youth system of the club San Marino, which is operating in the Italian Serie D (4th level). Try to get to the Serie A with the club San Marino and invest all the money you can into your youth. You will have to balance your duties with the domestic and national team and try to convince a lot of players to choose San Marino over Italian national team.
You can also play this challenge with Liechtenstein and FC Vaduz (playing in the Swiss second division) and try to get FC Vaduz and the country of Liechtenstein to the top!
European Alphabet Challenge
If you’re looking for a endurance-race of a challenge, then the European Alphabet Challenge is definitely the one for you!! The rules of this challenge are simple. You start as a manager of a club from the 2nd tier of Austria and try to win all the Domestic Leagues and Cups from all countries in alphabetical order. You can go to the next country when you have won the top Domestic League and every Domestic cup of the country you are in.
These are the countries you need to win:
- Czech Republic
- Northern Ireland
The Pentagon Challenge
Pentagon challenge is most probably the hardest and most time-consuming challenge there is. You start as an unemployed manager with a Sunday league reputation. Your aim is to win each continent’s champions leagues in one save: European Champions League, South American Champions League, Asian Champions League, African Champions League and North American Champions League. Tip, the best way to start this challenge is to start in Asia. You can raise your reputation there before you go the bigger leagues.
The David and Gloliath Challenge
Are you familiar with that club from Manchester? Of do you know that great club from Paris? Or maybe a club from München? You are probably thinking of Manchester United/City, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern München. But do you know the clubs FC United, Paris FC or 1860 München. This challenge is all about taking the fight to the bigger club from the same city. You have to beat them at least once, finish higher in the league than them and win more titles than your big brother.
Clubs you can play this challenge with:
FC United of Manchester (against Manchester United / City)
Paris FC (against Paris Saint Germain)
1860 München – Bayern München
The Sir Alex Ferguson Challenge
I tried this one myself, until my HDD problems a few weeks ago. The challenge is to mimic the life of one of the greatest managers of all time, sir Alex Ferguson. With his Manchester United he won 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups and 2 Champions Leagues in 27 season at the club. And it is your task to win the same amount of titles in the same number of seasons with the same club. You start this challenge to holiday until the 6th of November. At that moment you will take over control of the club 2nd from the bottom in the Premier League. Why this date and position? On 6 November 1986 Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed to Manchester United who was sitting in the 2nd from the bottom position in the Premier League.
Non-League to Champions League
This is the most straight-forward challenge. Start with a club from the Non-leagues like the Vanarama North / South (or use an other database for non-leagues from other countries) and try to win the Champions League with that club. Use the recommended reputation for your avatar and start your way up the leagues.
Director of Football Challenge
A lot of clubs nowadays have appointed a Director of Football. The manager won’t have any influence on new signings or scouting and is only responsible for the training and tactics. Your Director of Football will be in charge of all other areas of the game, like scouting, contract renewals and incoming and outgoing transfers. You will need to accept every decision he makes. The challenge part is to don’t get fired and reach all the goals the board has set for you.
